Webometrics is known as a warkingan institution that regularly gives assessments of various universities in the World. In addition to the University, Webometrics also conducted a war on Institutional Repository (https://repositories.webometrics.info) and Hospitals (https://hospitals.webometrics.info). But since 2016 there has been no more assessment (warkingan) of hospitals. So Webometrics regularly updates the University and Institutional Repository.
Recently, webometrics repository has released webometrics repository rankings for the period of September 2020 and Alhamdulillah Repository UMA has increased its ranking from the previous period ranked in the World Top 700 to the top 500 of the World Ranking.

In this period, UMA Repository was ranked 415th best repository in the world, ranked 27th in Indonesia and 2nd in North Sumatra. In addition, with this achievement, UMA Repository was named the Best Repository at PTS Se Sumatera webometrics 2020.
Rector of University of Medan Area, Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan, M.Eng, M.Sc said “Congratulations and success on the acquisition of UMA Repository ranked in the Repository Version of Webometrics in september 2020, rising its ranking both locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Hopefully, the acquisition of UMA Repository ranking gives position value to the University of Medan Area and increasingly known achievements by the community wherever it is”. Not to forget, Rector also said that webometrics assessment based on data in google scholar and CRIS so that the role of academic community UMA to continue to pour his thoughts into writing as intellectual work Civitas University of Medan Area is very important. “To all the academic community of UMA I congratulate and the highest appreciation for this achievement I thank you very much.”
Meanwhile, Ir. Ina Triesna Budiani as The Head of Library of Medan Area University said “that all the best results that have been obtained by the UMA library are the result of the cooperation and hard work of librarians who are always facilitate and fully supported by the UMA Leadership for the advancement of the University of Medan Area”.
As is known, webometrics provides a fickle assessment of each period. The main assessment in this institutional repository is based on the data in Google Scholar (Google Scientific).
With this main assessment, reflects that an institution that is included in the webometrics repository ranking is an Institution that has a lot of intellectual work and publications by a qualified academic community because it meets google scholar standards.
