The Faculty of Psychology, University of Medan Area (UMA) held a webinar with the theme “The Importance of Interest & Talent to Choose Study Programs In Universities” on Saturday (09/12/2020) from 09.00 – 12.00 WIB.”
The webinar was opened by Lecturer from Faculty of Psychology, Rizty Desta Mahestri, M.Si, Psychologist as Moderator of this webinar event, and then continued with a speech from Mrs. Dr. Ir. Hj. Siti Mardiana, M.Si, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Medan Area University who represented Prof. Dadan Ramdan, M.Eng, M.Sc, Rector of Medan Area University who was unable to attend.
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, University of Medan Area, Mrs. Dr. Ir. Hj. Siti Mardiana, M.Si in her speech greatly appreciated the activity. He advised the students of webinar participants to choose the right course based on their potential and interests when choosing not to feel difficult when they are in college, and to choose the right college to get the best education.
Therefore, with this webinar activity, he hopes to have a deeper discussion together about the importance of interest and talent in choosing a college study program for prospective students.

The first materialof the webinar was presented by Mr. Drs. Alpian Hutahuruk, M.Pd conveying his material namely Talent and Interest in his relationship in choosing a college. In his material presentation, Mr. Drs. Alpian Hutahuruk, M.Pd explained the case of the ego of parents or certain people including teachers who want their children to be themselves because they consider themselves successful or other close people are considered successful so he wants his child or the closest people including his students to succeed in the same way even though the talents and interests of each person are different. Mr. Drs. Alpian Hutahuruk, M.Pd also said that there will be a need for guidance and input without interfering with their choices through psychological approaches and also want to socialize to parents and teachers not to impose the will but still supervise the child, or the closest person in choosing to go to college.
The next material was presented by Mrs. Dr. Risydah Fadilah, S.Psi, M.Psi, Psychologist who presented her material on the Importance of Interest & Talent to Choose Study Programs In Universities. In her material presentation, Mrs. Dr. Risydah Fadilah, S.Psi, M.Psi explained about any type of talent, types of styles in learning, as well as types of intelligence that can later help in how to choose the right college in the future.
