Universitas Medan Area held an Online Graduation Ceremony of Bachelor and Master Program Period I Year 2020 on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at campus library building I University of Medan Area Jl. Kolam No. 1 Medan Estate, Zoom Application and Youtube Live Streaming University of Medan Area.
On this occasion, Rector of UMA Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan, M.Eng M.Sc in his speech said, in this period, The University of Medan Area graduated undergraduate and master’s students from 20 study programs totaling 457 graduates, consisting of 442 undergraduate graduates and 15 master’s programs. Graduates come from 7 faculties, namely Engineering, Agriculture, Economics and Business, Law, Social and Political Sciences, Psychology, Biology and 4 Master of Psychology Programs, Master of Agribusiness, Master of Public Administration and Magister Law.
This graduation was themed “In the Face of Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Digital Economy, UMA Continues to Improve Digital-Based Academic Administration Services to Support The Quality of Education so as to Produce Innovative, Characterful, Professional and Independent Graduates”. As a form of implementation that high science must be followed by ethics and noble morals. Alumni are expected to be able to think innovatively, be noble, independent, and make all their activities as worship to God Subhanahu Wataala / God almighty.
“For 37 years, UMA has shown great commitment in improving the quality of human resources in Indonesia, especially in North Sumatra. UMA is in the top 2 out of 263 PTS as a Region I Higher Education Service Institution”. said the Rector of UMA.
Since 2015, UMA has achieved B rating for Higher Education Accreditation. In addition, UMA has five A-rated accredited study programs, namely Management Study Program, Agribusiness, Public Administration, Communication Sciences, and Master of Agribusiness. UMA is the only PTS in North Sumatra that has a Doctoral Program in Agricultural Sciences which this year began the acceptance of new students. UMA is also recognized as one of the universities that obtained the University of Indonesia’s Green Metric certificate at the 17th national level.
“The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit us since mid-March 2020 caused the University of Medan Area to carry out the teaching and learning process online. UMA has distributed 15 GB of Internet quota per student every month until July 2020 to support online PBM. This quota assistance is the largest assistance provided by universities in North Sumatra. This is a form of UMA’s care and responsibility to improve the quality of PBM during the pandemic”. said the Rector of UMA.
On this occasion, a speech from the Chairman of Yayasan Pendidikan Haji Agus Salim Mr. Drs. H.M. Erwin Siregar MBA said congratulations to the students of Medan Area University who have graduated today, hopefully the University of Medan Area will be more advanced and become the best private university, especially in North Sumatra, thanks to the Governor of North Sumatra, Mr. Edy Rahmayadi for his attention.
As for the speech from the Governor of North Sumatra, Mr. Edy Rahmayadi said hopefully to the alumni of The University of Medan Area who was inaugurated today to be an innovative nation intellectual, personality and independent and useful and can contribute to the development and progress of North Sumatra province.
Head of LLDIKTI Region I Prof. Dr. Dian Armanto M.Pd., MA., M.Sc., Ph.d. said congratulations to the online graduation of undergraduate and master programs of The University of Medan Area period I Year 2020, in this Covid 19 pandemic situation should not be allowed to crowd let alone hold graduation as it should be. This time with the snat meeting at each college that this online graduation is legal or can be done in accordance with the statute regulations, I feel proud of the University of Medan Area students remain excited even in the Covid 19 pandemic hopefully we are all in good health, and I am also proud the University of Medan Area has opened the Doctor program and the first private college to open a doctor program in North Sumatra and has opened this year ,” said prof dian.
On the sidelines of the graduation the Rector accompanied by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs gave awards to outstanding students by the University of Medan Area hopefully more achievements achieved by students of the University of Medan Area.
Hopefully this graduation will be a good momentum to achieve success in the future. Hopefully this success will be a great start and an extraordinary spirit so as to improve your achievements, and ultimately be able to make you part of Indonesian society that has personality, innovative, and independent and able to play an active role in development in Indonesia.
